CURRENT PROJECT: THH
MISSION: Drafting
STATUS: Heading where the light doesn't reach
It's so much fun to write a story where you don't really know what comes next; you just keep writing till the end. It's an interesting way to write and probably shouldn't be recommended to any new authors. I guess I should reframe that. I do know the end of the story. And that the character falls in love. I've started writing in only one POV recently, and I don't know yet if this is the right path for this story. It might help if we could see the male main character's POV sometimes. But the draft is already over 100k words, and I'm just over the middle of the story. So who knows how long it will actually be. And I might be worried about how long it will take to actually edit this book. But I am hoping that it will be out next year, as it's the next book after my first series that I will publish.
I also think one reason I am able to just write without an outline is all the daydreaming I have done with this story. I've collected worldbuilding over the past several years and character references, but I haven't actually sat down and written out an outline as one would normally think of an outline. I do better with bullet points, but my writing partner has developed an outline/plotting method that I think I'll give a try, and I am hoping that I like it. That it will still give me that feeling I get now from discovery drafting. It's all a process, and its every changing.
